We have heard from Rex again.

I am going to try and avoid CARM and avoid going on message boards to argue with atheists. It's such a waste of time. This does not apply to my boards nor to this blog, or Metacrock's blog. Of cosure I continue the policy here and on  Doxa forum that  I don't allow posts that attack people personally.
Rex respond to my call for boycott of atheist boards:

Aaaahhhhh the good old days, the golden days of superstition on Earth, when you could just burn atheists at the stake for asking rational questions about irrational dogma!

This is typical of atheist ignorance. The minds that refuse to learn or probe the facts always ground their understanding in nonsense and inadequacy. Was religion the source of superstition? No it was the counter to superstition. The first steps man took in the direction of understanding the world through logic and reason were religious steps. See  my  article on Metacrok's blog about how Toynbe demonstrated that Christianity was an advance over what came before it in that it's broke the ancient connection the eternal return and progress in history possible. Once again we have the reality that atheists are un-scholarly, anti-learning and can't change. How many times have I demonstrated the social liberation aspects of the faith only to find Loren, Rex, and the other atheist regulars saying the same old innateness unhistorical crap? They just cannot learn. What's the point in having a dialogue with anyone who refuses to listen to what you say, and refuses to read the facts and can't learn?

The only response that allows one to cling to concepts that are losing in the marketplace of ideas is to close the discussion to the people who ask such inconvenient questions.
Concepts losing in the market place! You mean like the way atheism is stuck at 3% of the population and 90% believe in God. In other other words the way atheism is losing in the market place?

If your concepts are so great and strong, then convince us! Oh, sorry, I forgot, you can't!

It's such a shame it's rather a catch 22. He's not just smart enough to understand the proof which he's constantly calling for and yet, when we give it him, he wont listen he wont learn, he is not capable of understanding the answers. I am not the guy to take the answer to people of this ilk. I will pray that the Lord will send an amiable simple minded person to lead Rex into the truth.

The real issue is the way the educational system has let us down. It was the school system that decided schools were not about learning but about job training (barely). So they just cut off Rex's generation from knowledge and the ability to acquire it so that when he calls for proof he hasn't the slightest concept of what he's asking for. He has no choice but to fall back upon what he's been taught; what you see is what you get. If you don't see it in front of your face it ant there.

A few points:

You have no idea what my generation is. I would even be willing to wager that I am older than you. My rejection of your superstitious nonsense has nothing to do with the educational system that began my education so many years ago. I have moved far beyond that precisely because my education provided me with the tools and the desire to think for myself and to continue educating myself for my entire life thus far. The more educated I become, the more loathsome and quaint and provincial your statements and "beliefs" seem. You probably think that my education is incomplete because the public schools I attended did not have a compulsory bible brainwashing class. For that small omission, I am eternally grateful.

I have spent the bulk of my life in a search of new ways to look at the world. The more I learn about the world, the more I see concepts like god and religion are a blight upon humanity. Look at how the Catholics can't keep their hands off of the little boys, and how they scurry to hide those monsters, while doing nothing for the victims save for providing more shame. Look at the Muslim extremists, flying passenger planes into our buildings in an effort to kill as many infidel civilians as possible. Look at Iran being bent on stoning a woman to death for an affair that her accomplice isn't punished for. Look at the hate and discrimination that the gay community is suffering today because religious zealots are bludgeoning them over the head with an ancient text that has been translated by poor fallible man so many times, that it probably bears no resemblance to the original worthless document. Look at the FLDS who routinely marries girls as young as 13 into the polygamous elders’ “families”. If that isn't organized child rape, then I don't know what is. I am sure that you will counter that religion does wonderful fluffy shiny things, and that the illiterate, unwashed masses can’t get through the day without religion’s comfort. I will respond that the damage far outweighs the good.

Those examples, as well as innumerable others daily, are the things that drive me to hate religion. Notice I didn't say "hate god". It is pointless to hate something that doesn't exist.

To the point of evidence: There are things that would convince me that god is real. My list differs a little from the requested proof found here (perhaps I am a little more lenient, but not much), but I would accept any of these things as proof. Too bad nothing this objective is ever offered by believers.

In closing, I think that you should stick to what you know, which seems to be a lot about the unknowable and not a whole hell of a lot else. You certainly know nothing about me.

well then you are not well educated. I'm 53.

My rejection of your superstitious nonsense has nothing to do with the educational system that began my education so many years ago.

My ideas are not superstition. you think that as a result of ot being well educated. you have a surface belief that was in vogue at certain time and you never studied the truth of it, you just the took the system's word for.

you have not bothered to learn anything about my beliefs so yo uo don't know what they are.

I have moved far beyond that precisely because my education provided me with the tools and the desire to think for myself and to continue educating myself for my entire life thus far.

But you are so faucking stupid. You don't know anything. you don't listen, you just repeat a bunch a propaganda every time it's obvious you have not bothered to understand my view point becuase if you did there would be no way NO WAY IN HELL you could say it' not rational or well throughout.

The more educated I become, the more loathsome and quaint and provincial your statements and "beliefs" seem.

But it's really because what you call "education" is nothing but propaganda. you are not clearing logic. you are ot reading theology, you don't know what the great thinkers of the Christian faith have said. you are clueless and stupid. really you are dumb.

you are just echoing a bunch of vacant palaver about things you not of.

You probably think that my education is incomplete because the public schools I attended did not have a compulsory bible brainwashing class. For that small omission, I am eternally grateful.

I went to publish schools that did not have compulsary Bible reading. why are you so stupid to think that I am totall a produce of a Christian school.

I did go to christian schools in some years and we had bible classess. That's why I became an atheist. i though they were ridiculous and I still do. They weren't weren't ridiculous because the Bible is bad but beause they didn't understand it. they had all that legalitsic inerrancy crap.

one of the reasons I think you are stupid because I represent an alternative the kind of religion you don't like. You are so dumb you lump me in with all the fundices and never bother to notice the difference.

you have not tried to find out what I believe about anything. you are willing that all Christians are stupid not try to find out and that makes you stupid.

I have spent the bulk of my life in a search of new ways to look at the world.

you are totally narrow minded. you are not the lest bit open to anything but atheist lies and propaganda. like all little misguided right wing cretins you pat yourself on the back and pretend you are open but you are not. You are not at all open minded. you are totally closed to anything that's not in the cult.

the cult of atheism and depression

Well I was wrong about one thing: I am 46.

I grow tired of playing with you, and as examples of why, I will offer snippets of your response for your enjoyment. I write a cohesive well thought out comment with maybe a little condescension, but no personal attacks, expecting you to at least respond in some way to the main points of the comment (especially the evidence portion), and you respond with these gems that so clearly demonstrate, not only your debating skills, but your obvious moral superiority:

But you are so faucking stupid. You don't know anything.

you are clueless and stupid. really you are dumb.

I think you are stupid

You are so dumb

and that makes you stupid.

You rail endlessly about not allowing personal attacks in the comments, and yet, you consistently do the very thing that you loathe.

I would point out the hypocrisy, but since you are a believer, I am sure that you don't know how to recognize it.

stop coming back! you have nothing constructive to offer for discussion becuase you don't know anything. You are just mikes back yet to have understood anything. I don't mean crush your self esteem but really and truly why do this?

You don't want to learn so you are going to keep on with the same ignorant lines and it's useless talking to you. I'm not going to stop proving the evils of atheism so you might as well go else where to vent.

That's crap. you don't do that. most of what you say is vicious, over emotional, you don't listen you never really respond to my arguments. your thinking is chaotic and lacks focus and lacks an understanding of logic.

I've actually quashed saying this over and over because I really don't relish hurting you. You have no idea how I've struggled with rewriting stuff becuase I wanted to avoid this.

you are so convince that you are are right, you are so unwilling to learn are think and you are so far removed from any kind of understanding about anything religious. It had to happen sooner or latter that I said all this because you just refused to understand the back or anything necessary to really get it.

(especially the evidence portion), and you respond with these gems that so clearly demonstrate, not only your debating skills, but your obvious moral superiority:

Look it' like arguing with a child. you argue with someone who hasn't gotten out of first grade they wont listen they wont shut up they don't know anything they refuse to listen enough to learn even a little you are eventually going to lose your Patience.

you are clueless and stupid. really you are dumb.

I think you are stupid

but you don't know anything. I can prove I'm not because I've read gobs of books and I know things. Its' obvious you have never read a single theology book and when I say that you give some dip shit response that just shows you can't have a concept of learning.

you say something like "theology is stupid so I don't have to nkow it"

but you do have to know it ANSWER IT YOU DUMB CLUCK. OBVIOUSLY YOU HAVE TO KNOW SOMETHING ABOUT IT ANSWER IT! THAT'S WHY YOU NEVER DO. YOUR ARGUMENTS NEVER ANSWER ANYTHING i SAY.

DO YOU WANT ME TO to go back through the posts of the past and show you line for line how your arguments never answer what I said? I can do it. I will if you will read it and try to learn frmo it.

I would point out the hypocrisy, but since you are a believer, I am sure that you don't know how to recognize it.

blowing one's stack is not hypocracy. frustation and anger based upon having to deal with extreme injustice and unfair people is not hypcoracy!

the whole point of the blog is to show that atheism is a pile of hateful shit. you have prove that every time you spout bigoted bull shit about religion then you are refuse to eve see how that' the case.

Job never had to argue with atheists. If Job had posted on carm he would not have had the reputation for being so patient.

Joseph Hinman (Metacrock) said...

one thing that really pisses me off about Rex, he assumes that any time a believer speaks of God he/she must prove that God exists.

That is sheer stupidity. One need not waste time proving what one believes every time one speaks. Here's what he can't get, that the purpose for this bog is not to show that Christianity is true. the purpose is to show that atheism sux.

Christianity doesn't even have to be true for atheist watch to be true because the point of it is not to prove that Christianity is right but that atheism is a hate group.

This blog doesn't say anything about atheists. It is more telling of the toothless nature of today's Christians who are sorely lacking in any contentedness in their faith and must revert to their previous nature of loathing of anything or anyone who disagrees with them.
